The Rugby History Society

Welcome to the Rugby History Society

The opposing teams from the first ever International between Scotland & England held at Raeburn Place on March 27th 1871

This is a new society that aims to preserve and extend the knowledge of the History of the sport of Rugby Union

As with any Society it will only be as strong as it's membership. You can help the Society in several ways:

  • Join the Society

  • Submit your research for publication

  • Engage in debate in the Societies Forum

  • Advertise the Society at your Club

  • Participate in the World War 1 Project

It is intended to publish an electronic journal of the Society Periodically known as "Tight Five". This will be available to members

All contributions from members are welcomed for inclusion about any aspect of Rugby Unions History

Membership fees have been kept as low as possible and have been designed to cover the cost of maintenance of the website and administration

How the Society will operate in the end is open to debate amongst the membership. Feel free to use the Forum to air your ideas

Above all please read and enjoy the articles that have been submitted to the Society.
