Robinson 'Robbie' M Bordley


 

He was born in 1947 the eldest son of Robert Austin Joseph Bordley and Martha Ann (nee Robinson). His father was a keen sportsman excelling at Gilman School , Baltimore . 1936 (Ice Hockey, Baseball, Football teams; cup for best athlete), and Princeton 1940 (Ice Hockey & Lacrosse teams). His father went on to become a radio and television advertising executive.

Robbie graduated A.B. Princeton 1970; M.A. Am. Univ.; All Ivy League Football.

Robbie became the captain of the USA Eagles in 1976. The first international match the USA had played for 52 years after they won the Olympic gold medal at the 1924 Games. In all he played five times for the USA . He was captain in the first two.

He played club rugby for Washington .

He is now a History Teacher and Lacrosse Coach at Landon School , Bethesda , Maryland , just outside of Washington , D.C.

Teaching Lacrosse at Landon the Lacrosse Team, coached by Robinson Bordley, won national championships in 1999, 2001, and 2002.

His son John Robinson Bordley now also teaches History and Lacrosse at Landon.

Robbie and his wife Donna have three children, all lacrosse player: J.R (22). At Maryland , Austin (18) at Delaware , and Claire (17) at Holten Arms.
